Hello, my name is Keith Barker. And on behalf of the entire CBT Nuggets family, I'd like to welcome you to the CCNP Route hands-on labs. Let's begin. I'd like you to imagine that you're about to apply for a job at a company, and they're going to ask you a boatload of questions about what you know about how Routing operates.

Or imagine walking into a testing center about to take a certification exam on the topics covered in Route. Now, one of the biggest differences between someone who is prepared for that event, and someone who is not, is hands-on practice with the technologies.

And my friend, that's what this course is all about. Getting you from good to great, using lots and lots of hands-on practice. So here is the secret sauce that you and I are going to follow. We are going to watch Jeremy's CCNP Route videos, right here at CBT Nuggets, and that's the watch part.

And then you and I are going to do the labs in this course. Over here on the right, there's a laundry list of the labs are included as part of this course. Each one of them are independent, separate Nuggets. So you do know how to do them in order. You can pick and choose the order you want to do them in, but I would strongly recommend that you practice, hands-on, each and every one of these Nuggets.

And then after you and I've enjoyed walking through, and doing all of these labs together, you can use these Nuggets as a great way to review the concepts that you've previously practiced. Now to assist you in making this as easy as possible, I've included, in the Nuggetlab files, all the diagrams from each of the labs.

As well as the individual commands that you and I use in the Nuggets to build the topologies. And there are some additional resources, such as, packet captures that we've used in some of the Nuggets. And I've included those inside of the Nuggetlab files as well, for your reference.

Regarding the environment that I chose use as I built these labs, I chose to use GNS3 version 1.x, but you don't have to use that. You could use Viral, you could use live equipment, or if you have an emulator, or simulator that supports the features that we're going to cover, you can use that as well.

And if you need to brush up on GNS3, there's a very quick and easy course called GNS3 1.x Fundamentals, that can assist you in getting up and running with GNS3. However, in this course, I also walk you through, step by step, building each and every topology using GNS3.

If you are using Viral to build your labs, or you'd like to get up and running with Viral, I would recommend the course called Cisco Virtual Internet Routing Lab (VIRAL), and that's of course right here at CBT Nuggets created by my friend, Anthony Sequeira.

I wanted to share with you that there's a course just on Wireshark, that you can use if you'd like to get more in depth knowledge on that product. And for this last one, I almost hesitated to put it up. You might think, well Keith why would you recommend CCNA Hands-on Labs using Wireshark and GNS3, if we are currently in a CCNP Route course?

Well, the reason I have that here listed as a possible resource for you to use, is because if, while you were studying CCNA for Routing and Switching, there were some topic or technique that you didn't quite master, I wanted to give you a resource where you could go back to that topic and practice with just that topic with more hands-on.

So there's a complete hands-on lab for CCNA, and if you wanted to cherry pick maybe just two or three from that course, now that you know that that course exists, you can leverage that resource and maybe go through a few those Nuggets so you want to refresh your memory on.

So I wanted to keep this introduction to really, really, short. Why? It's that you and I can get into the meat of the matter, and that starts in our very next Nugget. So I wanted to remind you that this is a 2-step process. Step #1, we're going to go through together.

You and I, we're going to go through each of these Nuggets and build these topologies. And then step #2, is for you to do them on your own. Because that my friend, is where you're going to take your skills to the next level, regarding the technologies covered in CCNP Route.
