From the smallest organizations to the very largest, Cisco Data Center inventions are joining standards-based technologies to revolutionize the Information Technology (IT) industry. This course is critical for any engineer or designer that is interested in the future of network computing. Specifically, this course focuses on the Nexus and MDS equipment from Cisco Systems and the technologies that make a unified fabric of LAN and SAN traffic possible. Some of the industry's hottest technologies are thoroughly explored including OTV, vPC, LISP, VM-FEX, and Cisco FabricPath (TRILL). This course is a perfect follow-up to the CCNA Data Center courses here at CBT Nuggets, as well as the Cisco UCS courses.

Note: The exam associated with this course is scheduled to retire on July 3, 2017. Learners should plan accordingly to sit for the exam before its official retirement.

Intro

00:00:00

Are you ready for the greatest course that I have ever created, to date, at CBT Nuggets? I hope you are. I know I am. My name is Anthony Sequeira and I am so thrilled that you are joining me for our Unified Fabric Implementation Course, DCUFI 5.0, here at CBT Nuggets.

00:00:21

We are going to master the Nexus equipment, the MDS equipment. That's the LAN and the SAN, respectively, equipment of Cisco Systems. And we are going to delve into the technologies that these remarkable devices can bring to fruition in our modern data center.

00:00:41

Let's begin this course introduction by me sharing with you my three main objectives for you, in this particular course. So I have three goals for you and I as we move through the subject areas of this particular course. First of all, we're going to go farther than ever before with you understanding the technology.

00:01:04

Let me give you a great example. In CCNA data center training here at CBT Nuggets, specifically a course called DcIcT, where we get into the specific technologies, we took a look at something called FabricPath. And FabricPath is indeed Cisco's implementation of TRILL.

00:01:27

So we wet your whistle, is the colloquial expression. We gave you an introduction to FabricPath. You have a nice high level overview of what is going on with that technology. Well in this course, we go much deeper. Much, much deeper. Which is going to allow you to do our second goal.

00:01:49

And that's completely, successfully, implement the technology, including its verification. Now you might say Anthony, where in the world is the troubleshooting? I need to be able to troubleshoot FabricPath in a Cisco Data Center Infrastructure. And that's another course that's coming up.

00:02:08

That's going to be our DCUFT course. Yeah. DCUFT next is where we will get into the troubleshooting of these technologies. But you'll be able to fully implement and verify. That's, by the way, the step that was missing really from the CCNA Data Center, where you just got an overview of the technology.

00:02:29

And we really didn't have the time, and it's not the purpose of that course, to go into this in great depth. Now all of this ends up resulting in complete preparedness for your certification exam, if you want to go down that road. OK. This does map, this course does map to two powerful certifications.

00:02:52

The CCNP Data Center. And this course also maps to the Unified Fabric Specialist Certification. So you can get this certification while you're on your way to getting that certification. So this is an extremely valuable course if you are interested in Cisco certifications.

00:03:16

And of course, if you're not, it's hugely valuable still because we're going to completely explore technologies like the Nexus systems, the MDS systems, in the LAN and SANS respectively. And the technologies that go into these particular devices. In other words, what those particular devices can do for you.

00:03:38

Like FabricPath. And Overlay Transport Virtualization. And Virtual Port Channels, and Virtual Storage Area Networks on the MDS side of the house. So you know what, I want to wrap it up right there. I do. I mean we're ready. Right? We are ready to launch.

00:03:56

We are ready to get started with DCUFI. And I am so thrilled that you chose my course to go through this material. I promise you, I will not let you down. In fact, the only thing that's going to happen to you at the end is you're going to say, Anthony, get those DCUFT Nuggets done because I want to troubleshoot these amazing technologies with you.

00:04:23

Well I sure hope you found this initial Nugget informative. And I want to thank you for viewing.
