My name is Keith Barker, and on behalf of the entire CBT Nuggets family, I'd like to welcome you to the CCNA Hands-on Labs Using Wireshark and GNS3. I am literally giddy about this course. I had so much fun creating it, and in this introduction I wanted to give you a quick overview of where this fits into the courses that can prepare you to become a Cisco Certified Network associate and share with you some tips about how to get the absolute most from this course.

Let's begin. It's a lot of fun to get things that we like all in the same location. For example, I'd like you to imagine there's a table in front of you, and there's three of your favorite meals on three separate plates all sitting there on the table.

Or maybe you're at a party, and there's three of your favorite friends that are all at that party with you, and you're having a great time. That feeling of having three things that you really enjoy together at the same time is a feeling that I've had over the past several weeks as I put together this course for you and I to go through.

And the three elements that we are going to enjoy together are, first of all, Wireshark, which is a fantastic and free protocol analyzer that can help us really see what's happening on our networks. The second item is the ability to create labs very, very quickly, on the fly, using one of my favorite tools of GNS3, which is an open source and free emulation tool.

And the third item is Cisco iOS, and the commands that we can put into our Cisco devices, such as routers and switches, to build and create and make these networks go. And it just so happens that these three letters are also three initial letters from Watch, Learn, and Conquer.

Now, this course is created for a lot of different people. For example, an individual who's just starting to work with computer networks and learning about it. They might want to go ahead and start with CompTIA's Network+ to get a solid foundation in the basics of networking, and then they could leverage that forward as they started work on Cisco's CCNA.

And each of these rectangles here in this diagram represent courses that are available from CBT Nuggets. And what I've discovered, and what I want to share with you, is that an individual like you or I can master a topic-- not just learn about it, but master it-- by enjoying the Nuggets, watching those, as well as doing hands-on practice of those techniques that they're learning in those videos.

So, a big part about the learning is the labbing it up and hands-on practice that goes along with that. And so to assist you with that, one of the big benefits of this course, CCNA Hands-on Labs Using Wireshark & GNS3, is to give you the hands-on practice that you, on your own, can do, and that will assist you in mastering those skills that you're learning in the ICND1 and ICND2 Nuggets.

So, I've set up a timeline here to give you a visual representation of how these courses fit together, to assist you in getting your CCNA. And you'll notice just shortly after the CCENT begins, the CCNA Hands-on Lab starts just after that. Each of the Nuggets in this course-- in the CCNA Hands-on Lab course-- will assist you in getting up to speed very quickly with a lab environment on your own inside of GNS3 that you can practice with as you're watching the other ICND videos.

Now, there's also an IPv4 Subnetting course here at CBT Nuggets that's also extremely important, and that applies both to ICND1 and ICND2. That's kind of why it's hovering between the two. There's also a Cisco Route and Switch Troubleshooting Mastery course here at CBT Nuggets that also will be extremely helpful in your preparations and mastery of the topics taught in ICND1 and ICND2.

Now, down here at the bottom I've got the exam walkthrough for ICND1 and the exam walkthrough for ICND2 respectively, and those are the tail end of your ICND1 and ICND2 preparations, respectively. So, in creating this visual roadmap, I wanted to give you some tools that you could use to visually identify which courses and which resources right here at CBT Nuggets you can leverage and use that will assist you as you prepare and master the concepts during your CCNA certification from Cisco Systems.

As we go through these Nuggets together, I've included lab configurations for each of the steps that we're doing in each of the Nuggets. So, for example, if we're doing a Nugget on Spanning Tree Protocol or we're doing a Nugget on IPv6 EAGRP, you'll not only have the Nuggets to watch the configurations as we implement them together, you'll also have as part of the Nugget Lab files the configurations and step by step commands that we're using in the Nugget, so you can use those as a reference as well as later when you're labbing this up and practicing it on your own.

Also, in each of these videos, we're going to be capturing the traffic that's going across the network and then taking a look at that traffic inside of Wireshark, the protocol analyzer, and that's going to serve two fantastic purposes. Number one, it's going to help reinforce the concepts of what we're learning as we see the traffic on the network.

And secondly, you and I are going to increase our skills together as we work with Wireshark as a protocol analyzer, and those skills that we learn in these Nuggets translate directly to skills that we can use in a production environment to solve problems.

And what I've noticed about people who start working with Wireshark is they kind of get a bug, like, oh my gosh, this is so amazing, and many people want to dive deeper into Wireshark.
