Part six, the final installment of our series on CCIE Routing and Switching v5, builds directly on the five previous courses. Here, you prepare for both the written exam and lab exam on key topics involving infrastructure services. From NTP and EEM to all kinds of other important network services, master the technologies frequently used in networks today in order to provide the very best in responsiveness and performance.

There are so many networking services available today, built into routers and switches. This course provides complete coverage of all those mentioned in the CCIE Routing and Switching v5 blueprint to ensure that students are prepared for their written and lab exams. Electronic flash cards are also provided as part of the supplemental files to ensure that learners can demonstrate rapid recall of key points regarding all services covered.

Just as you experienced in the previous five CCIE training courses, this installment provides the theory and the hands-on approach required to master the technologies for written and lab exam excellence. Topics are broken up into very detailed components to promote easy understanding, as well as pinpoint review areas.

Note: The exam associated with this course was retired July 25, 2016. However, this course still retains value as a training resource.

Course Introduction

00:00:00

Anthony Sequeira here, full-time instructor with CBT Nuggets and I am so thrilled that you are joining me for part six, the final part, of our CCIE routing and switching version 5 all-in-one class. It's all-in-one because we're getting you ready for the written exam as well as the lab exam.

00:00:21

That's our goal with these particular Nuggets. Please join me in this course introduction as we take a look at the great features and coverage that you can expect here. Now, first things first, should you want to communicate with me outside of this particular course, you can, plenty of ways to do that.

00:00:40

Go ahead and hit the pause button right now in your Nugget player and go ahead and jot down the vehicle that would be most convenient for you. For instance, if you do not like social media, and you're not on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, or any of the other options, just hit up my blog at ajsnetworking.com.

00:01:00

Ahead and just post a comment there and I will reply typically within 24 hours. So again, grab your pause button right now. Jot down how you would most like to contact me. And I have this list for you in the NuggetLab files should you need it there. Now, judging from the title of this part, part six, we're dealing with infrastructure services.

00:01:26

Yeah, exactly. Not all of them. I just listed a couple here to give you a sense for what this is going to be like. We're going to pick those that Cisco outlined in their blueprint. Think about how many possible infrastructure services there are. Cisco went after some of the core and some of the most exciting ones.

00:01:48

A core example would be network time protocol. Yeah, absolutely, you want to master this because you want all the devices in your infrastructure to have the same correct time. That's very important from a network management, from a security perspective.

00:02:05

But we'll also be looking at really exciting things like Embedded Event Manager, where you literally have the ability to script applications against your routers and switches so you can automate key processes. The devices can literally take action based on particular events that might be occurring.

00:02:28

So while it might sound a bit boring, oh great, we're going to look at services, oh yeah, exciting. Please keep in mind that some of the stuff we're going to be looking at is really pretty cool. Now, as you might guess, there's a lot to some of the services that we're going to cover.

00:02:47

And you certainly don't have time, nor is it Cisco's intent that you'll be an expert in every single one of the network services that they outlined in their blueprint. What I'll do is I'll make sure for each and every service, I show you exactly where you can find the documentation on that service.

00:03:08

They are a bit spread out throughout the documentation. So I'll teach you how to zero in on the documentation for each and every service so that if you're in the lab exam and they ask you to do something, maybe a little bit crazy, or a little bit non-common, when it comes to one of our infrastructure services, you can find that particular feature of the service in seconds in your documentation.

00:03:35

Another feature that you're going to love about this course is the fact that I am creating a flash card deck for you, on Anki flash card deck. So all you need to do is download the Anki program for whatever particular platform you would like, and then import the deck of flash cards that I made you.

00:03:54

The flash card deck is in the NuggetLab files. So it'll be available for you when the course is complete. You can pop the flash cards I made you in the Anki program. And you can review key concepts that we cover together in these Nuggets in the flashcards to ensure your mastery.

00:04:13

Remember now, it's a starter deck I'm making for you. There will be a lot of great flashcards, but if you want to add to the flashcards, I encourage you to do that as well. So let's get started. We've got an awful lot to cover and I'm excited. I hope you are as well to jump right in head first.

00:04:33

I sure hope this Nugget was informative for you and I'd like to thank you for viewing.
