Designing a network today is more challenging than ever before. New technologies constantly arise, and we must design for performance, availability, and scalability, with the flexibility to meet rapidly evolving demands.

This course teaches the most up-to-date, fundamental, network design skills, and provides valuable guidance on ensuring success with all phases of the network lifecycle (plan, build, manage). This training focuses on design methodologies and objectives, addressing and routing protocols, and network expansion considerations within basic campus, data center, security, voice, and wireless networks.

Course Introduction

If you're going to be a huge success in the area of network engineering, you certainly want to know a little bit about what the design guys are up to. Just like any design guy worth his salt is going to know a little bit about implementation. The CCDA is a hugely popular certification from Cisco.

It of course stands for the Cisco Certified Design Associate, and we're going to have a blast in these Nuggets getting the fundamentals of network design under our belts, so that if we need to participate in a design along with some designers, we'll feel completely comfortable.

Or if you're beginning a career where all you're going to be designing is the latest, greatest networks, you're going to feel right at home here in this Nugget course. And I'm really excited, too, about this course, because I get to implement all of the things that students have really told me they love.

We'll go ahead and look at case studies. I'll be doing pop quizzes here and there, in the materials, so you can get a sense for certification exam questions, and if you'd be ready for those. And then I am preparing, for every single Nugget, electronic flash cards for you.

Those are using the Anki software. Let me just show you how easy it is to work with that, quickly. By the way these flash cards are located in the NuggetLab files. That means when I have all of the Nuggets for this course complete, we will publish the course at CBT Nuggets and have a nice hyperlink for you to access the NuggetLab files to get those flash cards.

The flash card software that I went with is called Anki. Just do a search on Anki flash cards for instance, and you'd find their website. And I choose them because they're free, because it works really well, and because they have so many platforms that they address.

If you're working with Mac, or Linux, or Windows, or iOS, or Android, you'll be able to download the appropriate player for your flash cards. All you've got to do once you have the product installed is just go to the File menu with Anki, and you'll do an Import.

You'll then go ahead and browse to the location where you put our NuggetLab files. Let me quickly grab them here. CCDA, NuggetLab, and there it is. It's a .apkg file extension. And you'll go ahead and open that import into your Anki product, and there you'll see the flash cards that you can run through.

So you'll just choose like Study Now, and here we see the first one. What are the three major elements of the simplified Cisco Life Cycle model? And let's see, I better know that. That would be Plan it, Build it, Maintain it. I'll go ahead and show the answer.

Plan it, Build it, Manage it. I was close. Maintain, Manage, you get the idea. I can then rate how well I knew that material. If you say that it's easy, it'll wait like four days before showing you that flash card again. If you say good, less than 10 minutes.

If you say I need that again, it'll show you that flash card in less than a minute of using the software. So there's some intelligent scheduling built in it, as well. Knowing me, I'll have over 100 flash cards for you on all of the Nuggets that we're going to work through together.

And one of the reasons why the CCDA is always so well received, is because we cover such awesome content. We'll take a look at various models for networking we can utilize, and techniques that we would use when we we're designing for a small business, or even a huge enterprise.

And then when it comes to designing for specific technologies, we hit some of the most popular you could ever imagine. Like wireless, and collaboration. And, because this is a brand new course, I'll get to share with you things like Software Defined Networking.

Technologies that are just really taking our industry by storm. So I know you are super excited, like I am, to jump into this content. And it's hilarious because you're going to click on the very next Nugget of this course, and we are going to shed light on that very simplified network model, that network life cycle of Plan, Build, and Manage that we looked in this particular Nugget thanks to a flash card.

I sure about this course introduction was informative for you, and I'd like to thank you for viewing.
